萱草拉丁文屬名Hemerocallis源於希臘文，表示「一日之美」，一朵花僅開一日為名，從日出開至日落，隔日即換上另一、二朵綻放。

這是一部很值得看的電影－「The Mule」（賭命運轉手）-克林伊斯威特執導、製片、主演故事中近90歲的角色－厄爾。此片是取材自〈紐約時報雜誌〉的文章，內容關於一名二戰退休老兵成為墨西哥錫納羅亞販毒集團運毒者的故事, 電影劇情引人節奏明快….。

厄爾，心性純善，交友廣闊、為人海派、熱於幫助他人。在他生命中，讓他最醉心的一直是種植萱草，種植的花卉是比賽中的常勝軍。厄爾花許多時間在工作與聚會中，卻常忽略家人的需要，每天專注在照顧萱草植哉，那怕花一朵僅開一日（這也是最吸引厄爾之處），但他卻不清楚為何與家人的疏離不合，晚年時才懊悔自己過往的任性自私以及體悟到家人的重要，並嘗試修補家庭關係重回家人身邊。

許多人總是過於熱忱自己的事業、交際和感興趣的事務而忽略應給予身邊致親家人關懷或關懷不足, 到了晚年才有所醒悟。雖幸重遇但分離的彼此封塵埋藏已久的心仍是緊緊相繫, 只是所剩相聚的光陰無幾….。

一則每人都清楚的道理, 卻在城市中的你我身邊不斷反覆重演。

The scientific name Hemerocallis of daylily roots from Greek. It means “the beauty of a day”. One daylily only blooms for a day, from sunrise to sunset. The second day another daylily will replace it and bloom.

The Mule is a crime drama film produced and directed by Clint Eastwood, who also plays the lead role. The screenplay, by Nick Schenk, is based on The New York Times article “The Sinaloa Cartel’s 90-Year-Old Drug Mule”.

The lead role Earl Stone is kind-hearted, have a lot of friends and is helpful towards others. The most important thing in his life is to plant daylily. His flowers often wins medal in competitions. Earl spends a lot of time hanging out with friends and planting daylily so much that he ignores his family. He didn’t understand why he is so distant from his family until he is older. Later in his years he finally realize the importance of family and regretted how he neglect his family. He tried to reunite with his family and fix the void he made.

People are too focused on their career, social life and interest that they forgot to give their family cares and attention. They will not realize that the most important thing is the family until they are older. When they try to reunite with their family, their heart reconnected easily but they don’t have a lot of time remain…

Everyone understands the basis, but people still keep repeat the story above.
